What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
FOLKESTONE & HYTHE AREA
Biggins Wood Road, Folkestone CT19 4NX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Biggins Wood Road, Folkestone, on or after 4th September 2023 for up to 12 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Elventon Close and Tile Kiln Lane, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tile Kiln Lane, Ashley Avenue, Shaftesbury Avenue and vice versa.
Burmarsh Road, Hythe CT21 4NH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Burmarsh Road, Hythe, on or after 4th September 2023 for up to 96 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in 3 phases. Once each phase is completed, works for the next phase will begin.
Phase 1 - Burmarsh Road will be closed, between the junctions of Grebe Crescent and Kingfisher Avenue. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Phase 2 - Burmarsh Road will be closed, between the junctions of Kingfisher Avenue and Wych Elm Way. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Phase 3 - Burmarsh Road will be closed, between the junctions of Wych Elm Way and Shepherds Walk. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A259 Dymchurch Road, Botolphs Bridge Road, Lower Wall Road and vice versa.
Cheriton High Street, Folkestone CT19 4HZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, on or after 18th September 2023 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the BP Garage, between the hours of 19:00 and 23:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2064 Cheriton High Street, B2064 Cheriton Approach, A20 Cheriton Interchange, B2064 Cheriton Approach, Cheriton High Street and vice versa.
Grange Road, Folkestone CT19 4PZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Grange Road, Folkestone, on or after 4th September 2023 for up to 19 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of B2064 Cheriton High Street and Narrabeen Road, the one-way Order will be suspended to allow access. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via B2064 Cheriton High Street, Ashley Avenue and Narrabeen Road.
The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via B2064 Cheriton High Street, Ilex Road and Narrabeen Road.
Paddlesworth Lane, Paddlesworth CT18 7AH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow road works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Paddlesworth Lane, Paddlesworth, on or after 18th September 2023 for up to 56 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction of Elvington Lane and Siskin Close. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Teddars Leas Road, Paddlesworth Court, School Road, Coach Road, A260 Canterbury Road, A260 Spitfire Way, Aerodrome Road and vice versa.
Sandgate Road, Folkestone CT20 9GU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow signal replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Sandgate Road, Folkestone, on or after 21st September 2023 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Cheriton Place and Bouverie Place, between the hours of 19:30 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via Bouverie Place, Bouverie Square, Middelburg Square, A2033 Bouverie Road and A2033 Castle Hill Avenue.
The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via A2033 Castle Hill Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, A2034 Shorncliffe Road, A2034 Cheriton Road, A2033 Middelburg Square, Foresters Way, A2033 Shellons Street, A2033 Middelburg Square, A2033 Bouverie Road and A2033 Castle Hill Avenue.
THE FOLKESTONE ROTARY HALF MARATHON (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
The Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon
Kent County Council intends to make an Order for the safety of the public whilst an event is being held on the highway to temporarily prohibit the use of Vehicles on the roads detailed below.
The Order will be effective on Sunday 24th September 2023. The event is planned to last 1 hour between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours. These restrictions will be effective when the appropriate signage is in place.
Nothing in the Order will apply to:
• Any Vehicle being used for Ambulance purposes, Coastguard/RNLI, Fire Brigade or Police services.
• Anything done by a Statutory Undertaker vehicle in connection with an emergency repair.
• Anything done with the permission or at the direction of an Event Organiser or a Police Constable in Uniform.

Road Name: Pound Way, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours
Extent: The entire length.
Road Name: Road of Remembrance, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours
Extent: The entire length.
Road Name: Sandgate Road, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours
Extent: Between West Terrace and West Cliff Gardens.
