Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

Castle Row, Canterbury.​ CT1 2PN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow new ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Castle Row, Canterbury, on or after 4th September 2023, for up to 2 days, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A28 Pin Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via:-

South westbound – Castle Row, Castle Street, A28 Pin Hill.

North eastbound – A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Riding Gate Roundabount, Rhodaus Town, Pin Hill, Wincheap Green, Castle Street.

 

Cedar Road, Sturry.​ CT2 0JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow soakaway cleansing to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cedar Road, Sturry, on or after 4th September 2023, for up to 2 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Homewood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Cedar Road, Homewood Road, A28 Island Road, Sleigh Road and vice versa.

 

Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay.​ CT6 7PW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay, from 19.00 hours on 22nd September 2023, with estimated completion by 07.00 hours on 23rd September 2023, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between number 68 and number 13, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Street and vice versa.

 

Patrixbourne Road, Patrixbourne.​ CT4 5BL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow bearing replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Patrixbourne Road, Patrixbourne.

The environmental weight limit on Patrixbourne Road is to be suspended.

The works will be completed in 2 phases:-

Phase 1 - Environmental mitigation and surveys are planned from 4th September 2023, with estimated completion by 15th September 2023.

Phase 2 - Bearing replacement is planned from 30th October 2023, with estimated completion by 8th March 2024.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Patrixbourne Road, The Street, Bifrons Hill, Bekesbourne Road, Town Hill, High Street and vice versa.

 

Shalloak Road, Broad Oak.​ CT1 1YZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, on or after 4th September 2023, for up to 3 days, between the hours of 21.00 and 05.00, or until the works have been completed.

The environmental weight limit on Shalloak Road will be suspended.

The road will be closed from the junction with Vauxhall Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Vauxhall Road, A28 Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sweechgate, Shalloak Road and vice versa.

 

St Georges Lane, Canterbury.​ CT1 2TD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Georges Lane, Canterbury, from 22.00 hours on 19th September 2023, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 20th September 2023, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Whitefriars, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Watling Street, Upper Bridge Street, St George’s Roundabout, Lower Bridge Street, Burgate, Canterbury Lane and St George’s Street.

 

Sydenham Street, Whitstable. CT5 1SU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

To allow new gas service works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sydenham Street, Whitstable, on or after 19th September 2023, for up to 4 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 77, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is:-

Diversion 1 - Stream Walk, Woodlawn Street & St Peter’s Road.

Diversion 2 - St Peter’s Road, Albert Road & Stream Walk.
