What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A406 GLA ROAD (BOWES ROAD/NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF ENFIELD)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, STOPPING AND 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London having consulted the London Borough of Enfield hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway resurfacing works to take place on sections of Green Lanes/Bowes Road/ North Circular Road.

3. The effects of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering, exiting or proceeding on the eastbound carriageway of the A406 Bowes Road/North Circular Road between its junction with Wilmer Way and the extended common boundary of Nos. 317 and 319 North Circular Road, local access to be maintained between Wilmer Way and Broomfield Road/Pymmes Road;

(2) entering, exiting or proceeding on the westbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road/Bowes Road between its junctions with Great Cambridge Road and Palmerston Road, local access to be maintained between Great Cambridge Road and Chequers Way;

(3) stopping on the southbound carriageway of Wilmer Way between its junctions with Seafield Road and Powys Lane;

(4) stopping in the parking bay on Palmerston Road opposite its junction with Melbourne Avenue;

(5) exceeding a speed of 30 MPH on the A406 Bowes Road/North Circular Road between its junctions with Wilmer Way and Great Cambridge Road.

The Order will also allow all vehicles to turn right into Telford Road from Bowes Road.

The Order will be effective between 4th September 2023 and 31 st March 2024 every night from 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply to any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes, or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs: via Telford Road, Bounds Green Road, High Road, Lordship Lane, The Roaundway and Great Cambridge Road (or reverse) to normal route of travel. Green Lanes (northern arm) diversion via Wilmer Way, Powys Lane and Broomfield Lane (vice versa) to normal route of travel. For Green Lanes (southern arm) via: High Road, Lordship Lane, The Roundway and Great Cambridge Road to normal route of travel
