What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Lake Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.251) Order 2023

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 29th August 2023 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
LAKE ROAD

From its junction with Cornmill Street Roundabout to Lake Road Roundabout.
Lake Road Roundabout to its junction with Clarendon Street.
HOLBROOK ROAD
From Lake Road Roundabout to Arundel Street Roundabout.
CHURCH STREET
From its junction with Cornwallis Crescent to Lake Road Roundabout.
ALEXANDRA ROAD
At its junction with Lake Road.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
DRUMMOND ROAD
From outside No. 29 to the turning circle (odd numbers side only).
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate footway/cycleway and bus lane improvement works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 29th August 2023 to 30th June 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will be carried out between 20:00 to 06:00.
Works will be carried out in sections as detailed above within the duration stated. Each works will be notified in advance by the placement of signs and letters to affected residents and businesses.
E) DIVERSION
Lake Road: Vehicles will be diverted from Lake Road - Fratton Road - Fratton Bridge Roundabout - Victoria Road North - Bradford Junction Roundabout - Holbrook Road -Arundel Street Roundabout - Holbrook Road AND Cornmill Street Roundabout - Cornmill Street - Market Way Roundabout - Market Way - Hope Street Roundabout - Unicorn Road - Alfred Road - Anglesea Road - St Michaels Road - King Richard I Road - Winston Churchill Avenue - Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout - Winston Churchill Avenue - Bradford Junction Roundabout - Holbrook Road - Arundel Street Roundabout - Holbrook Road.
Alexandra Road: Vehicles will be diverted from Lake Road - Lake Road Roundabout - Holbrook Road - Arundel Street Roundabout - Arundel Street - Landport Street AND Alexandra Road - Charles Street - Crasswell Street - Jacobs Street - Paradise Street - Commercial Place - Spicer Street - Lake Road - Cornmill Street Roundabout - Lake Road.
Church Street: Vehicles will be diverted from Church Street - Church Street Roundabout - Commercial Road - Market Way Roundabout - Cornmill Street - Cornmill Street Roundabout - Lake Road - Lake Road Roundabout and vice versa.
Holbrook Road: Vehicles will be diverted from Holbrook Road - Bradford Junction Roundabout - Winston Churchill Avenue - Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout - Winston Churchill Avenue - Lord Montgomery Way - Hampshire Terrace - St Michaels Road - Anglesea Road - Alfred Road - Market Way - Hope Street Roundabout - Market Way Roundabout - Market Way - Cornmill Street - Cornmill Street Roundabout - Lake Road - Lake Road Roundabout.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works. Cyclists to follow local routes.
