What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A406 GLA ROAD (NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Barnet hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable signal, highway improvement and resurfacing works to take place on the A406 North Circular Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering or proceeding in an easterly direction on North Circular Road between its junctions with Regent's Park Road and the A406 eastbound on-slip from North Finchley High Road;

(2) stopping on North Circular Road between its junctions with Regent's Park Road and Tillingbourne Gardens;

(3) entering Edge Hill Avenue at its junction with Beechwood Avenue, local access will be maintained;

(4) entering or exiting Connaught Drive at its junction with North Circular Road;

(5) turning left from North Circular Road westbound into Falloden Way;

The Order will also:

(6) Prohibit any HGV from entering or proceeding in an easterly direction on North Circular Road between its junctions with Great North Way and the A406 eastbound on-slip from North Finchley High Road.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times between 29th August 2023 and 1st March 2024, every night 9:30 PM until 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. For eastbound closures via Regent's Park Road, Ballards Lane, Woodhouse Road, Friern Barnet Road and Station Road to normal route of travel. HGVs via Great North Way, Watford Way, Barnet Way, Barnet By-Pass Road, M25, Junction 25, Great Cambridge Road and Great Cambridge Roundabout to normal route of travel. For traffic on Falloden Way via Falloden Way eastbound, Lyttelton Road, Aylmer Road, Archway Road, Church Road, North Hill, Great North Road and High Road East Finchley. For banned left into Falloden Way via North Circular Road westbound, Henlys Corner and North Circular Road eastbound to normal route of travel.
