Hartford Street - Temporary Traffic Regulation to Allow Works to Be Carried Out on or Near the Highway
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (HARTFORD STREET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic (vehicles, pedestrians and other traffic) from proceeding on that length of the footpath on the south side of Hartford Street from Chillingham Road eastwards for 86 metres.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and persons engaged in the works and, when deemed safe from workers, for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 4th September 2023 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
