Comberton Greenway – Pedal Cycle Priority Measures:
Barton Road, Long Road, West Street And Adjoining Roads, Comberton
(Barton Road, Long Road And West Street, Comberton)
(20mph And 40mph Speed Limits) Order 202-
Cambridgeshire County Council proposes to make the above-named Order under powers
contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order would be to:
(a) introduce a 20mph Speed Limit in the following lengths of road:
Barton Road – from its junction with Barton Road, Green End and South Street to a point 115m east of the eastern kerb-line of Long Road;
Long Road – from a point 23m north of the northern kerb-line of Fox’s Way to its junction with Barton Road;
West Street – from the western boundary of ‘Barlicia’, West Street to its junction with Barton Road, Green End and South Street;
(b) introduce a 40mph Speed Limit in Long Road – from a point 391m south of the southern kerb-line of St. Neots Road to a point 23m north of the northern kerb-line of Fox’s Way.

(Prohibition of Waiting) Order 202-
Cambridgeshire County Council proposes to make the above-named Order under powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order would be to: (a) introduce ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions in the following lengths of road:
Barton Road: (i) north side, from the eastern kerb-line of Green End eastward for a distance of 12m; and (ii) south side, from the eastern kerb-line of South Street eastward for a distance of 51m; Green End: (i) east side, from the northern kerb-line of Barton Road northward for a distance of 11m; and (ii) west side, from the northern kerb-line of West Street northward for a distance of 41m;
South Street: (i) east side, from the southern kerb-line of Barton Road southward for a distance of 9m; and (ii) west side, from the southern kerb-line of West Street southward for a distance of 10m;
West Street: (i) north side, from the western kerb-line of Green End westward for a distance of 9m; and (ii) south side, from the western kerb-line of South Street westward for a distance of 15m; and
(b) amend the extent of existing ‘8am to 6pm’ waiting restrictions in the vicinity of the above lengths of road to accommodate those changes.
Notice of Intention to Install Pedestrian and Cycle Crossings
Cambridgeshire County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to install a signalised ‘toucan’ pedestrian and pedal cycle crossing under powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, centred upon the following locations:-
Barton Road – at a point 25m west of the western kerb-line of Long Road. ‘Zig-zag’ markings (on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times), would be laid on both sides of the carriageway for a distance of 14m either side of this crossing;
Long Road – at a point 16m north of the northern kerb-line of Barton Road. ‘Zig-zag’ markings (on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times), would be laid on both sides of the carriageway for a distance of 14m north of and 9m south of this crossing; and
West Street – at a point 19m west of the western kerb-line of the easternmost vehicular access to Village College, Comberton. ‘Zig-zag’ markings (on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times), would be laid on the north side of the carriageway for a distance of 17m east of and 22m west of this crossing, and on the south side of the carriageway for a distance of 17m east of and 10m west of this crossing.
Notice of Intention to Install Road Humps and Speed Tables
Cambridgeshire County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to install road humps and speed tables under the powers contained in the Highways Act 1980. (a) The road humps would be of sinusoidal cross-section construction, 3.7m in length, have a maximum height of 100mm and cover the greater width of the carriageway, centred upon the following locations:-
Long Road, Comberton: (i) at a point 75m south of the southern kerb-line of Fox’s Way, and (ii) at a point 7m south of the common boundary of Nos. 5 and 7 Long Road.
(b) The speed tables would be of flat-top construction, have a maximum height level with the surrounding kerb, and cover the entire width of the carriageway at the following locations:- Barrons Way, Comberton – extending southward from the southern kerb-line of West Street southward for distance of 9m, including both ramps;
Barton Road, Comberton:- (i) extending eastward from a point 26m east of the eastern kerb-line of Long Road for a distance of 10m, including both ramps, and (ii) extending from a point 13m west of the western kerb-line of Woottens Close westward for a distance of 9m, including both ramps;
Barton Road, West Street, Green End and South Street – extending from a point in Barton Road 11.5m north-east of the north-eastern kerb-line of Green End south-westward into West Street to a point in West Street 9m south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Green End, including both ramps, and extending north-westward into Green End from the north-western kerb-line of Barton Road for a distance of 9m, including the north-westernmost ramp, and extending south-eastward into South Street from the south-eastern kerb-line of Barton Road south-eastward for a distance of 10m, including the south-easternmost ramp;
Harbour Avenue – extending from the northern kerb-line of Barton Road northward for a distance of 10m, including both ramps;
Hines Lane – extending north-westward from the north-western kerb-line of Barton Road northwestward for a distance of 7m, including both ramps;
Kentings – extending south-eastward from the south-eastern kerb-line of West Street southeastward for distance of 8m, including both ramps;
Long Road and Fox’s Way – extending from a point in Long Road 14m north of the northern kerbline of Fox’s Way southward to a point in Long Road 14m south of the southern kerb-line of Fox’s Way, including both ramps, and extending westward into Fox’s Way from the western kerb-line of Long Road westward for a distance of 9m including the westernmost ramp;
Long Road and Harbour Avenue – extending from a point in Long Road 12m north of the northern kerb-line of Harbour Avenue southward to a point in Long Road 22m south of the southern kerb-line of Harbour Avenue, including both ramps, and extending westward into Harbour Avenue from the western kerb-line of Long Road westward for a distance of 10m including the westernmost ramp;
Long Road and Mallows Close – extending from a point in Long Road 10m north of the northern kerb-line of Mallows Close southward to a point in Long Road 10m south of the southern kerbline of Mallows Close, including both ramps, and extending westward into Mallows Close from the western kerb-line of Long Road westward for a distance of 6m including the westernmost ramp; Long Road – at the pedestrian crossing with parallel pedal cycle facility location referred to in the Notice of Intention to Install Pedestrian and Cycle Crossings above, extending from a point 10m north of the northern kerb-line of Barton Road northward for a distance of 13m, including both ramps;
West Street – at the pedestrian crossing with parallel pedal cycle facility location referred to in the Notice of Intention to Install Pedestrian and Cycle Crossings above, extending from a point 13m west of the western kerb-line of the easternmost vehicular access to Village College, Comberton westward for a distance of 14m, including both ramps; and
Woottens Close – extending from the southern kerb-line of Barton Road southward for a distance of 8m, including both ramps.
These proposals are intended to provide a level surface for pedestrian and cycle crossings and reduce the speed of motor vehicles in the vicinity of pedal cycle priority measures and on the approach to Comberton village.

Comberton Greenway – Pedal Cycle Priority Measures: Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge
The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 (Amendment No.40) Order 202-
Cambridgeshire County Council proposes to make the above-named Order under powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order would be to: (a) introduce one-way eastbound traffic working for all vehicles except pedal cycles in Sidgwick Avenue between its junction with Grange Road and its junction with Newnham Road, Queen’s Road and Silver Street, with a corresponding ‘no entry except pedal cycles’ prohibition facing oncoming traffic from Newnham Road, Queen’s Road and Silver Street;
(b) introduce a mandatory westbound contra-flow cycle lane, aligned with the southern kerb, in Sidgwick Avenue between a point 8m west of its junction with Newnham Road, Queen’s Road and Silver Street and its junction with Grange Road;
(c) prohibit all vehicles except pedal cycles from undertaking a right turn from Queen’s Road into Sidgwick Avenue; and
(d) prohibit all vehicles except pedal cycles from undertaking a left turn from either Newnham Road or Ridley Hall Road into Sidgwick Avenue.
The City of Cambridge (Civil Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) Order 2022 (Amendment No.38) Order 202-
Cambridgeshire County Council proposes to make the above-named Order under powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order would be to: (a) relocate all existing paid-for parking places located on the southern side of Sidgwick Avenue to the northern kerb-line, so as to accommodate the provision of the new mandatory cycle lane referred to above;
(b) introduce ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions throughout all kerbside not designated as parking places in Sidgwick Avenue;
