What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (NETTLES LANE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian cycle and
equestrian traffic from Nettles Lane from its junction with Burdon Lane to its junction with Burdon Road.
The Order is required to allow for cable installation works. The order will come into force on 4 th
September 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it
is anticipated that the works will take approximately three weeks. All pedestrian, cycle and equestrian
traffic will be prohibited from Nettles Lane from its junction with Burdon Lane to its junction with Burdon
Road (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to
such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.
