Ryhope Spur, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulatin Order Due To Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(A1018 Ryhope Spur, Seaton)

(Temporary Road Closure & 50mph Speed Restriction) Order 2023

The Council on 26/5/2023 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit and restrict all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road to enable construction of a new 2-way link road and roundabout works to be undertaken. The works have been delayed and revised dates listed below:

Road Closures (Night Closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am) A1018 Northbound off-slip from A19

Full length between A19 and extending northward to A1018/B1285 roundabout north of Seaham Grange Ind Estate Roundabout from 20/11/2023 to 24/11/2023.

A1018 South bound on-slip to A19

Full length between A1018/B1285 roundabout north of Seaham Grange Ind Estate Roundabout and extending southward to A19 from 6/8/2023 to 29/10/2023 and 26/11/2023 to 22/12/2023

50 mph Speed Restriction (off peak restriction between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm) A1018 Southbound on slip to A19

1. from the southern side of the A1018/B1285 roundabout north of Seaham Grange Ind Estate Roundabout for a distance of 1515 metres to the southern side of the Seaton Lane overbridge from 5/6/2023 to 24/10/2023

2. from southern side of the A1018/B1285 roundabout north of Seaham Grange Ind Estate Roundabout for a distance of 1515 metres to the southern side of the Seaton Lane overbridge from 29/11/2023 to 18/12/2023.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure from A19 via slip road to A182 (south of Dalton Park) then north on B1285 to A1018/B1285 Seaham Grange Ind Estate Roundabout (and vice versa). The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months from 26/5/2023. The works commenced on 5/6/2023 and are anticipated to be completed in 28 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
