What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
SWALE AREA
BOBBING HILL, BOBBING. ME9 8TA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Bobbing Hill, Bobbing, on or after 14th August 2023, with estimated completion of 6th November 2023, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via A2 Key Street Roundabout, Keycol Hill, Rook Lane, Coldharbour Lane and vice versa.
ELM LANE, MINSTER-ON-SEA. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Elm Lane, Minster-on-Sea, on or after 14th August 2023, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Boarers Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Scocles Road, Drake Avenue and vice versa.
FAVERSHAM HOP FESTIVAL 2023 (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023
To allow the Faversham Hop Festival to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads in Faversham on or after 2nd September 2023, for up to 2 days, or until the event has finished.
The following roads will be closed between the hours of 08:00 and 19:00 on both days, with the roads re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
• Court Street – between the junctions with Crescent Road and Market Place.
• East Street – between the junctions with Newton Road and Preston Street.
• Market Place – for its entire length.
• Market Street – for its entire length.
• Middle Row – for its entire length.
• Preston Street – between the junctions with East Street and Station Road/Forbes Road.
• Stone Street – between the junctions with Preston Street and Union Street.
• West Street – between the junctions with Market Place and North Lane.
• Leslie Smith Drive – for its entire length.
• Bank Street – for its entire length.
• Partridge Lane – between the junctions Court Street and Thomas Road.
SCRAPSGATE ROAD, MINSTER-ON-SEA. ME12 2SB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Scrapsgate Road, Minster-on-Sea, on or after 29th August 2023, with estimated completion by 18th September 2023, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with The Broadway, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via The Broadway, B2008 Minster Road and vice versa.
STICKFAST LANE, BOBBING & IWADE ROAD, NEWINGTON. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Stickfast Lane, Bobbing & Iwade Road, Newington, on or after 31st August 2023, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
Stickfast Lane will be closed between Iwade Road and Cambray Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Iwade Road will be closed between Church Lane and Basser Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Basser Hill, Sheerness Road, The Street, Breach Lane, A2 Hartlip Hill, London Road, High Street, Boyces Hill, Keycol Hill, Key Street Roundabout, Sheppey Way, Stickfast Lane and vice versa.
WILGATE GREEN ROAD, THROWLEY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow underground structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wilgate Green Road, Throwley, on or after 14th August 2023, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Whitegates, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Throwley Road, Bagshill Road, Parsonage Stocks Road and vice versa.
VARIOUS ROADS, SITTINGBOURNE. ME10 2TA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS & TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2023
To allow junction improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Sittingbourne, on or after 14th August 2023, with estimated completion by 1st October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
WORKS SCHEDULE
The below closures will be restrictions on vehicles and pedestrians:-
B2005 Grovehurst Road, Sittingbourne
The road will be closed in phases as follows:-
Phase A
The road will be closed between Bramblefield Lane and Swale Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Grovehurst Road, Saffron Way, Mill Way, B2006 King Street, St Pauls Street, Staplehurst Road, Bobbing Interchange, A249 and vice versa.
Phase B
The road will be closed between Swale Way and Coromorant Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A249, Kingsferry Roundabout, Sheppey Way, The Street, Ferry Road and vice versa.
B2005 Swale Way, Sittingbourne
The road will be closed between Grovehurst Road and Lloyd Drive, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B2005 Swale Way, Castle Road, Eurolink Way, Crown Quay Lane, B2006 Eurolink Way, Mill Way, St Pauls Street, Staplehurst Road, Bobbing Interchange, A249, Grovehurst Road and vice versa.
Speed Restrictions
All restrictions will be to 30mph.
B2005 Grovehurst Road, Sittingbourne
The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be in place between Bramblefield Lane and Swale Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
B2005 Swale Way, Sittingbourne
The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be in place between Grovehurst Road and Lloyd Drive, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
VARIOUS ROADS, SITTINGBOURNE. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2023

WORKS SCHEDULE
Haysel, Sittingbourne
The restrictions below will be in place from 1st September 2023, with estimated completion by 6th October 2023.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure due to the road being a dead-end. Access will be maintained for residents when it is safe to do so.
The footpath between No.17 and Farm Crescent will be closed, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
This is a restriction for pedestrians only.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Farm Crescent, Haysel and vice versa.
Farm Crescent, Sittingbourne
Farm Crescent will be closed from 1st September 2023, with estimated completion by 6th October 2023.
The footpath will be closed between Farm Crescent and Harvey Drive, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Farm Crescent, Farm Crescent (Footpath), Harvey Drive and vice versa.
Grayshott Close, Sittingbourne
Grayshott Close will be closed from 18th September 2023, with estimated completion by 13th November 2023.
The footpath will be closed between Stanhope Avenue (Footpath) and Highsted Road (Footpath), to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via The Finches, Highsted Road and vice versa.
The Finches, Sittingbourne
The Finches will be closed from 18th September 2023, with estimated completion by 13th November 2023.
The footpath will be closed between Pond Drive (Footpath) and Highsted Road (Footpath), to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Grayshott Close, Highsted Road, and vice versa.
Pond Drive & Highsted Road, Sittingbourne
Pond Drive & Highsted Road will be closed from 18th September 2023, with estimated completion by 13th November 2023.
The footpath will be closed between The Finches (Footpath) and Highsted Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Highsted Road, The Finches and vice versa.
Highsted Road, Sittingbourne
Highsted Road footpath will be closed from 18th September 2023, with estimated completion by 13th November 2023.
The footpath will be closed between Highsted Road and Grayshott Close (Footpath), to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Highsted Road, Grayshott Close and vice versa.
Highsted Road will be closed from 21st October 2023, with estimated completion by 6th November 2023.
The road will be closed between number 20 and number 50, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Brenchley Road, Bell Road and vice versa.
Peregrine Drive, Sittingbourne
Peregrine Drive will be closed between 13th November 2023, with estimated completion by 18th December 2023.
The road will be closed between Stanhope Avenue to outside number 81, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for vehicles as this is a dead-end road. Access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
South Avenue, Sittingbourne
South Avenue will be closed from 10th February 2024, with estimated completion by 18th February 2024.
The road will be closed between Peregrine Drive and Fulston Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Chilton Avenue, Bell Road and vice versa.
