What is happening?

Various Roads in Brockham and Walton on the Hill
Temporary Prohibition of Waiting Order 2023

On 02 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit waiting by vehicles at any time on both sides of the carriageway to that length of: - 

a) That length of B2032 Dorking Road, Walton on the Hill that extends from the north-eastern side of its junction with the “Pfizer Roundabout”, to the western side of its junction with the access road to “Moorland” (approx. 285 metres from its junction with D1118 Deans Lane).

b) That length of D1118 Deans Lane, Walton on the Hill that extends from its junction with B2032 Dorking Road, to the southern side of its junction with Nursery Road.

c) That length of B2220 Chequers Lane, Walton on the Hill that extends from its junction with B2032 Dorking Road, to the southern side of its junction with D1049 Nyefield Park. 

d) That length of D1049 Nyefield Park, Walton on the Hill, that extends from its junction with B2220 Chequers Lane for a distance of 30m. 

e) That length of D1122 Wonford Close, Walton on the Hill that extends from its junction with Hurst Drive for a distance of 40m.

f) The entire length of D1122 Greenways, Walton on the Hill.

g) The entire length of D1118 Nursery Close, Walton on the Hill.

h) That length of C54 Brockham Lane, Brockham that extends from its junction with A25 Reigate Road, to the northern side of its junction with D2840 Kiln Lane.

i) That length of D2840 Kiln Lane, Brockham that extends from its junction with C54 Brockham Lane, to its junction with Old Kiln Lane.

This Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 06 August 2023 for a period of 12 months is required by R&A Championships Limited on grounds of safety.

The temporary restrictions which are anticipated to be required for a period of 9 days, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed and only to such extent as indicated by those traffic signs. Exemptions apply for vehicles when waiting because they are required by law to stop, are obliged to stop in order to prevent an accident or are prevented from proceeding because of circumstances outside the drivers control and in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or of a civil enforcement officer will apply when the temporary restrictions are in force.

C68 Shipley Bridge Lane, Shipley – Horley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 02 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of C68 Shipley Bridge Lane, Shipley – Horley that extends from its junction with B2037 Antlands Lane, for a distance of 150m. This Traffic Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out signing and/or resurfacing and/or maintenance works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out within 5 days of the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 07 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times via the alternative route: - C68 Shipley Bridge Lane, C67 Copthorne Bank and B2037 Antlands Lane. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

Station Road (B2032) Betchworth Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023

On 02 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; a) Station Road (B2032) Betchworth as extends from its roundabout junction with (A25) Reigate Road to its junction with (X25097) The Coombe and; b) suspend “The Surrey County Council B2032 Station Road, Betchworth Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) to this Notice.

Alternative Route: 

a) (B2032) Pebble Hill, Dorking Road, (A217) Brighton Road, Reigate Hill, London Road, (A25) Castlefield Road, Church Street, High Street, West Street, Buckland Road, and Reigate Road, and;

b) (A25) Reigate Road, Buckland Road, West Street, (A25) London Road, (A217) London Road, Reigate Hill, Brighton Road, (B2032) Dorking Road, and Pebble Hill Road.

This Order is required for safe access to facilitate carriageway telecom and utility works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 night between the hours of 7pm and 7am, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 16 August 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. All other vehicular traffic will be required to follow the diversion route.

Woodmansterne Street (D1072) Woodmansterne and Woodmansterne Lane (D1071) Woodmansterne
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 02 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; 

a) Woodmansterne Street (D1072) Woodmansterne and; b) the entire length of Woodmansterne Lane (D1071) Woodmansterne. Alternative Route: Park Road, (B2217) Sutton Lane, (A2022) Croydon Lane, and (B278) Carshalton Road or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate carriageway box repair works for, or on behalf of Circet.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 7 days between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 16 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

All other vehicular traffic will be required to follow the diversion route. N.B The 3 separate closures along both roads will not be in operation at the same time as each other.

Meath Green Lane (D334) Horley and Greenfields Road (D572) Horley
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 02 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; a) Meath Green Lane (D334) Horley as extends from its junction with (D572) Greenfields Road to its junction with (D337) Parkhurst Road, and; b) the entire length of Greenfields Road (D572) Horley.

Alternative Route: a) Greenfields Road, Kingsley Road, Wellington Way, Horley Row, and Meath Green Lane, and; b) Meath Green Lane, Horley Row, Wellington Way, and Kingsley Road.

This Order is required to facilitate highways improvement and/or maintenance works by or on behalf of Surrey County Council.

These works are anticipated to be carried out within 5 weeks within the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 15 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

All other vehicular traffic will be required to follow the diversion route. N.B The closures will not be in operation at the same time as each other.

Hurst Road (C55) Walton On The Hill Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Hurst Road (C55) Walton On The Hill. Alternative Route: Ebbisham Lane, (B2220) Chequers Lane, (B2032) Dorking Road, (B2033) Headley Common Road, Church Lane, and Hurst Lane or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate a safe working zone to access telegraph pole works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 31 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians.

Stafford Road (D1403) Caterham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; a) Stafford Road (D1403) Caterham as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between No.55 and No.57 Stafford Road to a point in line with the common boundary between No.67 and 67a Stafford Road and; b) suspend “The Surrey County Council D1403 Stafford Road Caterham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) to this Notice. Alternative Route: Stafford Road, Burntwood Lane, (A22) Wapses Lodge Roundabout, (B2208) Croydon Road, (B2030) The Square, (B2030) Station Avenue, and Stafford Road or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate chamber repair works for, or on behalf of Cappagh Contractors.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 31 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

Tillingdown Hill (D1405) Caterham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Tillingdown Hill (D1405) Caterham.

Alternative Route: (B2208) Croydon Road and Highfield Road.

This Order is required to facilitate new water connection works for, or on behalf of SES Water.

These works are anticipated to be completed over 6 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm within 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 29 August 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

Wray Lane (D1182) Reigate Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; a) Wray Lane (D1182) Reigate and; b) suspend “The Surrey County Council D1182 Wray Lane Reigate Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023” in its entirety. Alternative Route: (A217) Reigate Hill, Raglan Road, and (A242) Croydon Road or this route in reverse. This Order is required to carry telecom works by, or on behalf of JSM Group.

These works are anticipated to be completed over 4 nights between the hours of 8pm and 4am during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 31 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)
Public Bridleway 173 (Capel / Ockley)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 28 July 2023 Surrey County Council will make the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Bridleway 173 (Ockley) from Upper Oakdale (Grid Reference 515755, 137231) generally east to the Capel parish boundary, and the length of Public Bridleway 173 Capel from the aforementioned parish boundary generally east to Wattlehurst Farm. Private access rights will not be affected by the Order.

The Order is necessary to enable a mains water pipe installation.

The closure will be in operation from 31 July 2023 until 1 September 2023 or until works are completed, whichever is sooner. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf.

Alternative route for pedestrians: from Upper Oakdale proceed generally southwest on Ockley footpath 174 and Warnham footpath 1425. Turn north on Warnham footpath 1425_2 and Capel Footpath 176, then northwest on Capel Footpath 175.

When works take place between points B (Ells Farm) and C (Wattlehurst Farm) on the closure plan, access will be retained for pedestrians only on a 1.5m width. Pedestrian access north onto Capel Footpath 175 will be retained at all times.

There is no suggested alternative route on horseback or for cyclists.

The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway 173 (Capel/Ockley) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
