Ouston, Temporary Road & Footpath Closure Due To Telecom Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Arisaig, Argyle and Fairisle, Ouston) (Temporary Road and Footpath Closure) Order 2023

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all any vehicular or pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road or footpath in Ouston as follows; Temporary Footpath Closure Arisaig a 70 metre length of footpath that extends eastwards from the northern side of no.23 to no.45; and also a 35 metre length to the eastern side of nos.19-23. Argyle a 20-metre length that extends westerly to the northern side of nos. 1-3. Temporary Road Closure Fairisle a 135-metre length of Fairisle between nos.6-18 Fairisle to enable new telecom infrastructure installation works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to a) pedestrian traffic from western side of the closure the northern side of no.21 Arisaig via the western path from no. 86 The Brooms and northwards to no. 82 The Brooms, then easterly to the northern side of no.101 The Brooms, then southerly to no.45 Arisaig to the eastern side of the closure, or continuing south to no.37 Arisaig, then west to no.35 leading to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa, b) pedestrian traffic from western side of the closure to the southern side of nos.43-41 Abington, then north to the western side of nos.40-21 Abington, then easterly to the northern side of nos.20-19 and southerly to the eastern side of nos.18-44 to the northern/ eastern side of the closure and vice versa, c) vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure westerly on Fairisle, southerly on Carnoustie and easterly on Byron Close to the southern side of the closure and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on 14/8/23 and are anticipated to be completed in 3 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
