What is happening?

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2023 Mid Somerset Show 2023

Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as detailed in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 10th day of August 2023 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The Order will be made to facilitate the Mid Somerset Show 2023 and is in the interest of public safety. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles, residents requiring access or egress and any vehicle associated with the management of the event.

A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO. For information on the restrictions, where applicable, visit www.one.network. Ridge Lane, Shepton Mallet – From its junction with Compton Road to its junction with Cannards Grave Road

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles between the hours of 0600 and 1600 on Sunday 20th August 2023

Hobbs Road, Shepton Mallet – From its junction with the A37 Whitstone Road in a westerly direction to the junction with Nalder Close

Webber Road, Shepton Mallet – From its junction with the A37 Whitstone Road in a westerly direction to the junction with Henley Rise

Little Brooks Lane, Shepton Mallet – From its junction with the A371 Cannards Grave Road in an easterly direction to its junction with Julian Close

Dark Lane, Shepton Mallet – From its junction with Ridge Lane in a northerly direction to its junction with Cannards Grave Road

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road
b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works
