A3 Trunk Road - Temporary Road Closure For Works
What is happening?
A3 TRUNK ROAD – GUILDFORD
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A3 Trunk Road in the County of Surrey, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is: -
1. to authorise the overnight closure (details below) of both carriageways of the A3 between Dennis (A25/A322) and Stoke (A25/A320) Interchanges. 2. to impose a mandatory 24-hour 50mph speed
limit on: -
(a) the eastbound carriageway of the A3 between points approximately 95 metres east and 545 metres east of the centreline of the eastern underbridge at Dennis Roundabout (A25/ A332); and
(b) the westbound carriageway of the A3 between points approximately 2270 metres south-west and 3380 metres south-west of the centreline of Clay Lane overbridge.
3. to impose 24-hour lane width restrictions of 2.5 metres (maximum vehicle width 2 metres) in the outside lane (lane two) on: -
(a) the eastbound carriageway of the A3 between a point approximately 1108 metres north-east of the centreline of Egerton Road underbridge and a point approximately 553 metres east of the centreline of the eastern underbridge at Dennis Roundabout (A25/A332);and
(b) the westbound carriageway of the A3 between points approximately 2766 metres south-west and 3471 metres south-west of the centreline of Clay Lane overbridge.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works, carriageway works, and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 8 months starting on or after Monday 7th August 2023.
The closures will take place in phases each direction between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). Please see the National Highways website for details.
The Order will come into force on 5th August 2023 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted by using the A25, with the exception of vehicles exceeding 4.6 metres in height which will be diverted using the A25, A322, A31, Guildford Park Road, Madrid Road, and the Chase in either direction.
The temporary closures, speed restrictions, lane width restrictions, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
