Luton - Multiple Road Closures

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.18) ORDER 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 24th July 2023 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 2nd August 2023 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Anticipated dates and times of closures 2nd August 2023 to 1st September 2023. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Park Street from Church Street to Manor Road, Church Street from the roundabout to Park Street, Cumberland Street the whole length. Diversion route for all three road closures is via St Marys Road, St Marys Roundabout, Windmill Road, Manor Road. Alternatively via Park Viaduct, St Marys Roundabout, Windmill Road, Manor Road. Anticipated dates of closure 2nd August 2023 to 5th August 2023.
Roman Road from Dordans Road to Oakley Road, Beechwood Road from Pembroke Avenue to Wickstead Avenue. Diversion route for both closures is via Beechwood Road, Waller Avenue, Dunstable Road, Oakley Road. Alternatively via Pembroke Avenue, Dordans Road, Linden Road, Oakley Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 7th August 2023 to 8th August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Chester Avenue the whole length. Diversion route via Roman Road, Beechwood Road, Waller Avenue. Alternatively via Waller Avenue, Dunstable Road, Oakley Road, Roman Road. Anticipated date and times of closures 2nd August 2023 to 4th August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Waller Avenue from Marsh Road to Waller Avenue Roundabout. Diversion route via Beechwood Road, Dunstable Road, Birch Link, Leagrave Road. Alternatively via Marsh Road, Grange Avenue, Oakley Road, Dunstable Road, Beechwood Road. Anticipated dates of closure 8th August 2023 to 12th August 2023.
Cutenhoe Road the whole length, Park Street from Osborne Road to Cutenhoe Road. Diversion route for both road closures is via London Road, Tennyson Road, West Hill Road, Strathmore Avenue, Park Street. Alternatively via Osborne Road, Gipsy Lane, New Airport Way, London Road. Anticipated dates and times of closure 14th August 2023 to 21st August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Links Way the whole length. Diversion route not available. Anticipated date and times of closure 22nd August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Warden Hill Road the whole length. Diversion route not available. Anticipated dates and times of closure 23rd August 2023 to 25th August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Kingston Road from Richmond Hill to Ridgway Road. Diversion route via Ridgway Road, Winch Street, Richmond Hill. Alternatively via Richmond Hill, Stockingstone Road, Hitchin Road, High town Road, Winch Street, Ridgway Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 29th August 2023 to 31st August 2023, 8am to 6pm.
Dunstable Road (Service Road) from Halfway Avenue to Atherstone Road. Diversion route Atherstone Road, Bradley Road, Halfway Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 1st September 2023, 8am to 6pm.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
