Finchale Avenue, Temporary Road Closure Due To Bridge Inspection Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Finchale Avenue, Finchale Road Railway Bridge, Newton Hall/Brasside) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 100 metre length of Finchale Ave, at Finchale Rd Railway Bridge (ECM5/204), Newton Hall between the footpath adj no 268 Finchale Rd and the field gates to the eastern side of the bridge to enable rail bridge inspection works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will not be available to vehicular traffic during the closure.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence between 10 pm and 6 am on 3/8/23 and are anticipated to be completed in 1 night. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly. Access for emergency service vehicles will be afforded throughout and other access at works supervisor discretion.
