FOOTPATH 161, BARKING TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE ORDER 2023
NOTICE OF INTENT
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate the movement of plant, equipment and materials to and from the Barking Barrier, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and with the consent of the designated officer from the Environment Agency for measures relating to the portion on Environment Agency land.
2. The order will come in to effect on Thursday 27 July 2023 with works expected for:
• The movement of plant, equipment and materials to and from the Barking Barrier to take 6 months to complete. Completion date estimated as Friday 26 January 2024 with the work expected to be undertaken at all times.
However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.
3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate signs to divert pedestrians are being displayed the Order will temporarily:-
• Prohibit all pedestrians on Footpath 161, both sides, from its junction with River Road for a distance of approximately 331.3 metres heading south-west towards the River Roding, then heading in a south-easterly direction along the river edge to the steps to the foreshore.
• Prohibit all pedestrians on the Environment Agency footpath, both sides, from its junction with River Road in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Footpath 161.
• Prohibit all vehicles on the Environment Agency Road, both sides, from its junction with River Road to its junction with the Barking Creek Barrier.
