Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2023

Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 27th June 2023 it made two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from those footpaths listed in schedule 1 below and to prohibit all vehicular, horse and cycle traffic from those roads and footways listed in schedule 2. The Orders are required to allow the excavation and installation of a fibre media cable. The orders come into force on 7th July 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under the Orders will be six months, it is estimated that the works will take six months. However, it is anticipated that each section of road, footway or footpath will be closed on just one occasion and for a maximum of two days. During the closures all vehicles, pedestrians, horses and cycles will be prohibited from the roads and footways detailed in Schedule one below and pedestrians will be prohibited from any footpath detailed in Schedule 2 (except for vehicles and personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. The closures will be for the full extent of the roads. An alternative route will be provided and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout.
