Avenham Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(AVENHAM LANE, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Avenham Lane, Preston from Syke Hill to Manchester Road Roundabout the works will be carried out in two phases as follows: -
Phase 1 – Syke Hill to Manchester Road Roundabout
Phase 2 - Manchester Road Roundabout
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Wednesday 12th July 2023 until 0600 hours on Saturday 15th July 2023 or until completion of the works within this period. Access will be maintained wherever and whenever possible.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Phase 1 Diversion = Manchester Road - Selborne Street - Oxford Street – Avenham Lane
Phase 2 Diversion = Queen Street – London Road – Frenchwood Avenue – Manchester Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.
