What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Gains Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving, Loading and Waiting) (No.206) Order 2023

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 3rd July 2023 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, LOADING AND WAITING
GAINS ROAD

Phase 1: Between its junction with St Ronan's Road and Welch Road.
Diversion: St Ronan's Road - Albert Road - Waverley Road - Allens Road - Welch Road.
Phase 2: Between its junction with Welch Road and outside No. 14 Gains Road.
Diversion: Gains Road - St Ronan's Road - Albert Road - Waverley Road.
Phase 3: Between No. 14 to its junction with Waverley Road.
Diversion: Welch Road - Gains Road - St Ronan's Road - Albert Road - Waverley Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate water works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 3rd July 2023 to 28th August 2023 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Works will be carried out in sections. Each works will be notified by the placement of signs and letters 7 days in advance to affected residents and businesses.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted as detailed above.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
