Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 23rd June 2023 it made two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all traffic along the footpaths in Schedule 1 and the footways and roads in Schedule 2. The Orders are required to enable new fibre works to take place in or near the footpaths, roads and footways. The Orders will come into operation on 7th July 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under the Orders will be 6 months for the footpaths and 18 months for the roads and footways and the full duration will be required for the works, however it is estimated that each closure will only be in operation for approximately 2 days. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the footpaths and footways (except personnel involved in the works) and all vehicles, cyclists and horses will be prohibited from the roads (except vehicles and machinery involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An exemption will be provided for emergency services attending emergency call and access for affected residents will be maintained throughout. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
