What is happening?

HIGHLAND COUNCIL

The Highland Council, being satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited because of the likelihood of danger to the public while coronavirus restrictions were in place made THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL (CORONAVIRUS) (FOUNDRY WAY BUS ONLY STREET, INVERNESS)(TEMPORARY ONE WAY TRAFFIC AND PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES) ORDER 2021 under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to maintain social distancing and ensure public and road safety.

The effect of the Order was to introduce the following one way traffic restrictions and traffic prohibitions:

One Way Traffic on the U5705 Foundry Way
Vehicles prohibited from driving in a south-easterly direction on the U5705 Foundry Way over its entire length (a distance of 68m or thereby).

Bus Only Street – Prohibition of Vehicles on the U5705 Foundry Way.
It introduced a traffic prohibition on any vehicle, excepting public service vehicles, pedal cycles and taxis on the U5705 Foundry Way over its entire length (a distance of 68m or thereby).

The Order came into force at 06.00 hours on Wednesday the 24th May 2021 and was due to expire at 06:00 hours on Wednesday the 23rd of November 2022.

The Council sought and received a direction from Scottish Ministers, in accordance with Section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, that the Order should continue in force for a further period of six months until Tuesday 23 May 2023.

The Council sought and has received a further direction from Scottish Ministers, in accordance with Section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, that the Order shall continue in force for a further period of six months until Thursday 23 November 2023.

Alternative route via U4304 Rose Street, U4623 Railway Terrace, U4623 Strothers Lane, U3877 Farraline Park Access Road.
