NOTICE OF MAKING

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(LEYLAND LANE, LEYLAND AND LEYLAND LANE, ULNES WALTON,
SOUTH RIBBLE AND CHORLEY BOROUGHS) (REVOCATION AND

40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 14 June 2023 Lancashire County Council made the
above Speed Limit Order under Sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84 of and Part IV of Schedule
9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to:
1. Revoke the following:
a) The "Lancashire County Council (Leyland Lane, Leyland, South Ribble and
Chorley Boroughs) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2020" in full;
b) "The Borough Council of South Ribble (Leyland Lane, Leyland) (30mph Speed
Limit) Order 1979" insofar as it relates to the 30mph speed limit on Leyland Lane,
from the termination of the existing 30mph speed limit southwards to the
proposed roundabout junction with the Western Primary route (i.e, to a point 75
metres north of the existing junction with Emnie Lane).
Where no further speed limit is re-introduced, the speed limit will revert to restricted
road status by virtue of street lighting, where a 30mph speed limit will apply.
2. Introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
a) Leyland Lane, Leyland, from a point 104 metres south of its junction with the
centreline of Altcar Lane, in a general southerly direction, to its centreline junction
with Leyland Lane, Ulnes Walton;
b) Leyland Lane, Ulnes Walton, from its centreline junction with Leyland Lane,
Leyland, in a general southerly direction, to its junction with A581 Southport
Road.
This Order will come into force on the 26 June 2023. A copy of the Order, and all other relevant
documents may be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of Chorley Borough Council,
Town Hall, Market Street, Chorley, PR7 1DP, and at the offices of South Ribble Borough Council, Civic
Centre, West Paddock, Leyland, PR25 1DH, and at the offices of The Director of Law and
Governance, Lancashire County Council, County Hall, Fishergate, Preston PR1 8XJ, and on
Lancashire County Councils Website http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-
travel/roads/roadworks-and-traffic-regulation-orders/permanent.aspx, quoting ref:
LSG4/894.14693/AFR.
