Coast Road - Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2023
Notice is hereby given that on 21/6/23 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Coast Rd, Sth Shields, from a point 170m west, of its junction with Access Rd to Souter
Point Car Park to its junction with Access Rd to & from Grotto Car Park. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to carry out carriageway realignment works. The Order will come into force on the 21/6/23. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the
prohibition will only be needed from 26/6/23 for 6 nights between 22:00p.m until 06:00a.m. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the
display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Coast Rd, Mill Ln, Kitchener Rd, Lizard Ln, Access Rd To Marsden Hall, Prince Edward Rd, Redwell Ln & vice versa.
