What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (SUNDERLAND PRIDE 2023 AND SUNLUN CALLING EVENT) Temporary Traffic Regulation ORDER 2023
Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 22nd June 2023 it made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), and with the consent of the Secretary of State under 16B of that Act, in order to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, namely the Sunderland Pride 2023 and Sunlun Calling Event (‘The Event’) which is to take place on Thursday 6th July 2023 to Monday 10th July 2023, and to enable the participants to take part in the Event and the public to spectate the Event. The effect of the Order is to prohibit all vehicular traffic along and prohibit all vehicles from waiting and loading or unloading along the lengths of road specified in the Schedule. The Order shall come into force at 12:00 on Thursday 6th July 2023 and shall cease to have effect at 18:00 on Monday 10th July 2023. During the Event, diversions will be signposted via the adjacent highway network where applicable. The prohibitions shall apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. There will be exemptions in the Order for police, fire and rescue services and ambulance vehicles on emergency call and vehicles being used in connection with the Event.

West Sunniside, from its junction with St Thomas Street to its junction with Athenaeum Street. Norfolk Street, from its northern junction with Norfolk Street East Rear to its southern extent. Coronation Street, from its southern junction with Norfolk Street East Rear to its western extent.
