What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD

(CHOWDENE BANK/THE LODGES ROAD, LOW FELL, GATESHEAD)

(AMENDMENT NO.2)
TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023

Notice is hereby given that on the 21 June 2023 The Borough Council of Gateshead (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) made an Order in exercise of their powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act and by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 (“the 2004 Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Constable of Northumbria Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act. 

The Order which comes into effect on the 28 June 2023:

1. Amends the Borough Council of Gateshead (Chowdene Bank, Low Fell, Gateshead Area) (Traffic Restrictions) Order 2012 which was amended by the Borough Council of Gateshead (Chowdene Bank/The Lodges Road Low Fell Gateshead) Traffic Regulation Order 2013 is amended as follows to revoke Items 1a, 1c, 2a and 2b from Schedule 1; and
2. Inserts a new schedule 3 ‘Prohibition of Waiting and Loading between the hours of 8:15am to 9:15am and 3:00pm to 4:00pm operating from Monday to Friday (inclusive)’ along the lengths of road set out in the schedule below.

The Order together with plans and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be examined online at: www.gateshead.gov.uk/trafficschemes at Gateshead Council’s Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH Monday to Thursday between 8:45am and 4:30pm and Friday between 8:45am and 4:00pm or a copy can be requested by contacting telephone number (0191) 4332169 (Ref: IKEN/005408). 

If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under them has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
