LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A683 LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY) (REVOCATION, 30MPH, 40MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 14 June 2023 Lancashire County Council made the above Speed Limit Order under Sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to:
1. Revoke the following:
a) "The County Council of Lancashire (Restricted Roads) (No. 5) Order 1978" in full.
b) "The Lancashire County Council (A683 Melling Road/C506 Gressingham Road Hornby Lancaster City) (Restricted Roads) Order 1995" in full.
c) "The Lancashire County Council (A683 Lancaster-Kirkby Lonsdale Road, Melling-with-Wrayton, Lancaster City) (Restricted Road) Order 1995" in full.
d) "The County Council Of Lancaster (Restricted Roads) (No.3) Order 1969" in full.
e) The "Lancashire County Council (A683 Burrow Road, And Woodman Lane, Nether Burrow, Lancaster City) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2003" insofar as it relates to the 40mph speed limit on A683 Burrow Road, from the "Burrow" sign plate (approximately 280 metres south of Mill Lane) to a point 35 metres north of Burrow Bridge.
2. Introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
a) Hornby Road, Caton, from a point 148 metres south-west of its centreline junction with Caton Green Road (C488), Caton Green to its junction with Hornby Road, Claughton;
b) Hornby Road, Claughton, from its junction with Hornby Road, Caton to a point 163 metres north east of its junction with the Centreline of Farleton Old Road;
c) Burrow Road, Burrow, from a point 200 metres south of its junction with the centreline of Mill Lane to a point 432 metres north of its junction with the centreline of Mill Lane.
3. Introduce a 50mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
a) Lancaster Road, Quernmore, from a point 163 metres east of its junction with Caton Road, Quernmore to a point 26 metres west of its junction with the Centreline of Low Road (C487), Halton;
b) Hornby Road, Caton, from a point 221 metres west of its junction with Holme Lane (U49028), Brockhouse to a point 148 metres south-west of its centreline junction with Caton Green Road (C488), Caton Green;
c) Hornby Road, Claughton, from a point 163 metres north east of its junction with the Centreline of Farleton Old Road to its junction with Hornby Road, Farleton;
d) Hornby Road, Farleton, from its junction with Hornby Road, Claughton to its junction with Lancaster Road, Hornby;
e) Lancaster Road, Hornby, from its junction with Hornby Road, Farleton to a point 50 metres west of its junction with the centreline of Strands Farm Lane (U3078), Hornby.
This Order will come into force on the 26 June 2023. A copy of the Order, and all other relevant documents may be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of Lancaster City Council, Town Hall, Dalton Square, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ, and at the offices of The Director of Law and Governance, Lancashire County Council, County Hall, Fishergate, Preston PR1 8XJ, and on Lancashire County Councils Website http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-travel/roads/roadworks-and-traffic-regulation-orders/permanent.aspx, quoting ref: LSG4/894. 14287/AFR.
