What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (BIDDICK AREA 1 (PN841)) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicle, pedestrian, horse and cycle traffic from those roads and footways listed in the schedule below and any footpath connecting to the footways listed in the schedule below. The Order is required to allow for fibre optic cabling works. The order will come into force on 20th July 2023.
The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, the closure of each footway will be limited to one occasion and each duration of each closure is expected to be approximately 2 days. All vehicles will be prohibited from those roads listed in the schedule below and all pedestrians, horses and cyclists will be prohibited from those roads and footways listed in the schedule below and any footpath connecting to the roads and footways listed in the schedule below (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout. Schedule - Hambard Way; Skirlaw; Beaumont Drive; Harland Way; Park Chare; Barrington Drive; Maltby Close; Talbot Close; Henson Close; Sherwood Close; Morton Close; Park Way and Fatfield Road.
