(CLOSURE OF FOOTPATHS, RIVERSIDE MASTERPLAN) Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2023 AND THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF ROADS AND FOOTWAYS, RIVERSIDE MASTERPLAN)
Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2023
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from those footpaths, other rights of way and bridleways listed in schedule 1 below and another order Sections 14(1) and 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicular, horse and cycle traffic from those roads and footways listed in schedule 2. The Orders are required to allow the Sunderland Riverside Masterplan implementation works to take place on, in or near the roads, footways, footpaths, other rights of way and bridleways. The orders will come into force on 17th July 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order relating to the footpaths, other rights of way and bridleways will be six months. During the closures all pedestrians, horses and cycles will be prohibited from any footpaths, other rights of way and bridleways detailed in Schedule one below and all vehicles, pedestrians, horses and cycles will be prohibited from the roads and footways detailed in Schedule two (except for vehicles and personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. The closures will be for the full extent of the roads. An alternative route will be provided and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout.
Schedule One: Millennium Way; Hay Street; Easington Street; Easington Street North; Stobart Street; Hay Street; Brooke Street; Richmond Street; Wilson Street North; Sheepfolds North; Sheepfolds Road; Matlock Street; Cumberland Street; St Mary’s Boulevard; Livingstone Road; Plater Way; Silksworth Row; Farringdon Row; Galley’s Gill Road and National Cycle Route 7 (C2C Cycle Route) – from its junction with the un-named footpath that links Easington Street North to C2C Route, for a distance of 400 metres in an easterly direction.
