What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (CHESTERTON ROAD, SOUTH SHIELDS) ORDER 2023

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be to:
REVOKE School Entrance Marking on Chesterton Road, South Shields – Biddick
Hall Junior School east side from a point 131.1 metres south of its junction with the
south side of the west bound carriageway of John Reid Road in a southerly direction
for 31.25 metres.

AMEND No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Chesterton Road, South Shields from a point 112.75 metres south of its junction with the south side of the west bound carriageway of John Reid Road from a distance of 18.35 metres to a distance 28.35 metres in a southerly direction.

Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with plans showing the relevant areas and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Town Hall at the address below. Alternatively, you may request a copy of the documentation by emailing

If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations
about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council’s Legal Services Department at the address below or by email to the address above by 11 July 2023. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
