What is happening?
THE CITY OF EDINBURGH
COUNCIL (HOLYROOD WEEK & NATIONAL SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023 – TEMP/23/161
The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the holding of Holyrood Week & National Service of Thanksgiving, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit any motor vehicle to be driven on the section of road described in Sch 1, where closures apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; (b) drive or cause or permit any motor vehicle to be driven on the length of road specified in column 1 of Sch 2, otherwise than in the direction specified opposite in the corresponding line of column 2 of the said Schedule; & (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle on the parts of the roads described in Sch 3, where prohibitions apply to both sides of the roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated.
The Order shall have effect during the hours and on the dates specified in the Schedules. The alternative route for vehicular traffic is via The Mound, Hanover St, George St, Charlotte Sq, Sth Charlotte St, Princes St, Lothian Rd, Castle Ter, Lady Lawson St, West Port, Grassmarket, Cowgate, Pleasance, St Leonard’s St, Dalkeith Rd, Peffermill Rd, Duddingston Rd West, Willowbrae Rd, London Rd, Leith Walk, Leith St, York Pl & Queen St.
The following restrictions will be suspended between 00:01hrs & 08:00hrs on 3/7/23 and between 00:01hrs on 5/7/23 & 04:00hrs on 6/7/23: bus, taxi and cycle lane & one-way on Johnston Ter, to facilitate two-way traffic; one-way on Niddry St, to facilitate access to/from Cowgate; one-way on Abbeyhill Cres, to facilitate access to/from Calton Rd; prohibition of motor vehicles on High St, to facilitate vehicles access; & one-way on Cockburn St, to facilitate two-way access. Existing restrictions may be suspended on any of the affected sections of road described in Sch 3.

(C) from 00:01hrs to 08:00hrs on 3/7/23 & 00:01hrs on 4/7/23 to 04:00hrs on 6/7/23 on: St John St, from its jnct with Canongate, southwards for 50m;
