NOTICE OF MAKING ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A581 CHORLEY AND WEST LANCASHIRE) (REVOCATION, 20MPH, 30MPH, 40MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 14 June 2023 Lancashire County Council made the above Speed Limit Order under Sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to:
1. Revoke the following:
a) The “Lancashire County Council (Speed Limit Management) (Croston Road, Rufford, Meadow Lane, Croston, West Lancashire Borough And Chorley Borough Areas) (50 Mph Speed Limit) (No 1) Order 2010” is in full.
b) “The Lancashire County Council (A581 Meadow Lane And B5249 Moor Road, Croston, Chorley Borough) (Revocation And Restricted Roads) Order 1998” in full.
c) The “Lancashire County Council (A581 Ulnes Walton, Eccleston, Chorley Borough) (Part Revocation, 30 and 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2012” insofar as it relates to the following:
i. Item I. of Schedule 2;
ii. Schedule 3.
d) The “Lancashire County Council (Bluestone Lane, Hall Lane, Syd Brook Lane, Tinklers Lane and Meadow Lane, Mawdsley and Croston, Chorley Borough) (Part Revocation 30 mph, 40 mph and 50mph Speed Limits) Order 2012” insofar as it relates to Schedule 4.
e) The “The Lancashire County Council (Various Roads, Croston, Eccleston, Euxton, Ulnes Walton and Leyland, Chorley and South Ribble Boroughs) (40mph Speed Limits) Order, 1994” insofar as it relates to the following:
i. Schedule 1;
ii. Items a) and f) of Schedule 2.
f) “The Borough Of Chorley (Dawbers Lane(A.581), Euxton)(Restricted Roads) Order 1995” insofar as it relates to a 30mph speed limit on Dawber’s Lane, from a point 45 metres west of its junction with Wigan Road for a distance of 150 metres in a westerly direction.
g) “The Lancashire County Council (B5250 Lydiate Lane, Eccleston, Chorley Borough) (Revocation and Restricted Road) Order, 1998” in full.
h) The “Lancashire County Council (Croston Area, Croston (Various Roads), Chorley Borough) (Revocation and 20 mph Speed Limit) Order 2012” insofar as it relates to a 20moh speed limit on Meadow Lane, from its junction with Westhead Road to a point 20 metres west of its junction with Westhead Road.
i) The “Lancashire County Council (Dawbers Lane, Euxton, Chorley Borough) (40 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2012” insofar as it relates to Item a) of Article 1.
2. Introduce a 20mph speed limit on Meadow Lane, Croston, from its junction with Westhead Road for a distance of 73 metres in a general westerly direction.
3. Introduce a 30mph speed limit on Meadow Lane, Croston, from a point 73 metres west of its junction with Westhead Road, Croston for a distance of 188 metres in a westerly direction.
4. Introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
a) Dawbers Lane, Euxton, from a point 195 metres west of its junction with the A59 Wigan Road, Euxton to its junction with Southport Road, Eccleston, in a general westerly direction;
b) Southport Road, Eccleston, from its junction with Dawbers Lane, Euxton, to a point 470 metres east of its junction with Lydiate Lane;
c) Highfield Road, Croston, from a point 20 metres south of its junction with Southport Road, Ulnes Walton to a point 627 metres north and east of its junction with the Centreline of Rectory Close (U431).
5. Introduce a 50mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:
a) Meadow Lane, Croston, from a point 261 metres west of its junction with Westhead Road, Croston to its junction with Croston Road, Rufford, in a general westerly, then south westerly direction;
b) Croston Road, Rufford, from its junction with Meadow Lane, Croston to its junction with A59 Liverpool Road, Rufford / A59 Liverpool Road, Tarleton.
This Order will come into force on the 26 June 2023.
