Holyrood Road Area - Temporary Road Restrictions

What is happening?

(HOLYROOD ROAD AREA) (NO. 2) (TEMPORARY ROAD
RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023 – TEMP/23/144
The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate public realm works, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle between 19:00hrs and 06:00hrs DAILY; & (b)
except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on both sides of (i) Holyrood Rd, in its entirety; (ii) St John St, in its entirety; (iii) Holyrood Gait, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, south-eastwards for 20m;
(iv)  Canongate, from New St to Gladstone Ct; (v) Viewcraig Gdns, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, south-eastwards for 20m; (vi) Viewcraig St, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, southeastwards for 20m; (vii) Dumbiedykes Rd, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, south-eastwards for 20m; (viii) Gullan’s Cl,
from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, north-westwards for 20m; (ix)  Morgan Lane, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, northwestwards for 20m; (x) Hammerman’s Entry, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, north-westwards for 20m; (xi) Gentle’s
Entry, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, north-westwards for 20m; (xii) Hutton Rd, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, northwestwards for 20m; and (xiii) Reid’s Cl, from its jnct with Holyrood Rd, north-eastwards for 20m. The Order shall have effect from 26/6/23 to 28/7/23. The alternative routes for vehicular traffic is via: (i) Holyrood Rd – St Mary’s St, Canongate, Horse Wynd, Queen’s Drv & Holyrood Gait; (iii) Holyrood Gait – Queen’s Drv, Holyrood Park Rd, Dalkeith Rd, St Leonard’s St, Pleasance & Holyrood Rd; & (iv) Canongate:
(1) westbound – Abbeyhill, Horse Wynd, Queen’s Drv, Holyrood Gait, Holyrood Rd & St Mary’s St; & (2) eastbound – St Mary’s St, Holyrood Rd, Holyrood Gait, Queen’s Drv & Horse Wynd. Pedestrian access will be maintained. The following roads have no available diversions: (ii) St John St;
(v) Viewcraig Gdns; (vi) Viewcraig St; (vii) Dumbiedykes Rd; (viii) Gullan’s Cl; (ix) Morgan Lane; (x) Hammerman’s Entry; (xi) Gentle’s Entry; (xii) Hutton Rd; (xiii) Reid’s Cl. Existing restrictions may be suspended on the affected
sections of roads described in (b).
