Springwell Road, Temporary Road Closure Due To Sewer Repair Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Springwell Road, Durham City) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023

The Council on 26/05/23 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 16 metres length of Springwell Road, Durham City to the front of no.15 Springwell Road to enable Northumbrian Water sewer repair works to be undertaken. The alternative route is from east side of closure in an easterly direction on Springwell Road then in a northernly direction on Fieldhouse Lane then in a westerly direction on Whitesmocks then in a southerly direction on A167 to western end of closure and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8:00am on 08/06/23 and are anticipated to be completed in 8 hours. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
