Kings Drive, Temporary Road Closure Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON UPON THAMES

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

1. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames hereby gives notice that in order to facilitate the replacement of a gas main and because these works are being executed on or near the carriageway it has made an Order the effect of which is summarised in paragraph 3 below.

2. The Order will come into effect on Monday 22 May 2023 and is expected to take 5 months to complete, however the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are displayed the Order will temporarily:

- Prohibit all vehicular traffic from entering, exiting or proceeding in Kings Drive between its junctions with Manor Drive and Pine Gardens.

- Prohibit all vehicular traffic from entering, exiting or proceeding in Courtlands Road between its junctions with Manor Drive and Alexandra Drive.

- Prohibit all vehicular traffic from entering, exiting or proceeding in Berrylands between its junctions with King Charles Road and Manor Drive.

- Introduce waiting restrictions - no waiting 'at any time' and loading restrictions - no loading 'at any time' for those areas of parking and loading bays, including the electric charging bays, and where any single yellow line exists in Alexandra Drive between properties No. 95 to 105.

4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic whilst the prohibition is in place will be via either; -

- Pine Gardens, Alexandra Drive, Kings Charles Road, vice versa; or

- Berrylands Road, Kings Charles Road, vice versa; or

- Manor Drive, Avenue South, King Charles Road, vice versa.

5. Vehicle's access to properties adjacent to the prohibited length of road will be maintained at all times insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. The prohibitions specified above apply only during such times and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
