What is happening?

(TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURE) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by pedestrian traffic on that section of the U6106 Dawson Place Footway from its junction with Newgate Street heading north east for a length of 20 metres in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 17th May 2023 until the 17th November 2023. It is expected that the footway will only be closed from the 17th May 2023 until the 9th June 2023 and that the footway will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 17th November 2023.
The alternative route for pedestrian traffic will be via the Dawson Place, Cottingwood Lane, Copper Chare and vice-versa.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to allow for works to renew flags on the footways on Newgate Street and in order to minimise future disruption, throughout the duration of this Order, other contractors may be undertaking works, this includes but is not limited to Avonline and Openreach.
