What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -
SECTION 14(1)(A), (4) AND (7) AND PARAGRAPH
27(1) OF SCHEDULE 9
THE A47 TRUNK ROAD (SWAFFHAM TO DEREHAM,
NORFOLK) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND
PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202_
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways
Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A47 Trunk
Road in the County of Norfolk to enable third party
utility works to install high voltage power connections
to Necton Onshore Windfarm, construction of access
improvements to a national grid substation and
Carriageway resurfacing, renewal of road markings
and road studs, surveys and inspections, renewal
of technology, safety barrier and signs, and general
routine maintenance to be carried out in safety.
The works would take place overnight (8pm to 6am)
starting on or after Monday 1 May 2023 and are
expected to last for approximately 8 months.
The effect of the Order would be to impose a speed
restriction of 40 miles per hour, for 24 hours daily,
on the eastbound and westbound carriageways of
the A47 between points 150 metres west of Norwich
Road junction, Swaffham and 150 metre west of
Station Road junction, Dereham.
During the works all lay-bys situated adjacent to the
lengths of carriageway described above would remain
closed for 24 hours daily.
The temporary mandatory speed limit (which would not
apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles)
and layby closures (which would not apply to emergency
service, traffic officer, winter maintenance or works
vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
The Order would come into force on 1 May 2023 and
may continue in force until the works detailed above
have been completed, or for a maximum duration of
18 months, whichever is the earlier.
