What is happening?

The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads In the South Lakeland Area) (Temporary traffic Regulation) (No.3) Order 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out highways works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule. Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. The Works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

Cumbria Highways will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 22 March 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 months in total and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Schedule - Extent Of Restrictions And Alternative Routes

1. U5363 Preston Patrick - Approx. duration 3 weeks ( Ref: TTRO/3434) From its junction with the U5364 (on the plan), extending in a predominately south westerly direction for a approx. 1.6km. Alternative Route: via the C5077 and U5364.

2. U5662 Gatebeck - Approx. duration 3 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3439) From its junction with the B6254 extending in a predominately westerly direction for a distance approx. 2.6km. Alternative Route: Via the B6254 and C5077

3. Garth Bank, Kendal - Approx. duration 1 week (Ref: TTRO/3446) From its junction with Hallgarth Circle extending in a westerly direction approx. 150m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

4. A685 Burnes Gill nr Tebay - Approx. duration 3 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3503)

From a point approx. 250m. south of its junction with the M6 extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 840m. Alternative Route for Motorway Prohibited Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A685, C5102, A6, B6261 and B6260. Alternative Route for Motorway Permitted Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A685, U856, A684(J37), and M6(J38).

5. A684 nr Kendal - Approx. duration 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3506)

From its junction with Paddy Lane extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 720m.

Alternative Route for north east bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A684 (Kendal), Anne Street, Stramongate, New Road, Aynam Road, A65 (Kirkby Lonsdale), and the A683 (Marthwaite).

Alternative Route for south west bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A684 (Marthwaite), A683 (Kirkby Lonsdale), A65 (Kendal), A6, Lowther Street, New Road, Blackhall Road, Sandes Avenue, Station Road, Wildman Street, Castle Street, and Sedbergh Road.

6. A683 Narthwaite - Approx. duration 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3514)

From a point approx. 230m north east of its junction with the U3416 extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 225m. Alternative Route : via the unrestricted sections of A683, A684 (Garsdale Head), B6259 (Nateby) and A685.

7. A683 nr Holme - Approx. duration 2 weeks (Reft TTRO/3520) From a point approx. 500m. north east of its junction with the B6256 extending in a north easterly direction approx. 225m. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A683, A684 and B6256.

8. A683 Casterton - Approx. duration 3 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3525)

From its junction with Colliers Lane extending in a predominately north easterly direction for a distance approx. 860m.

Alternative Route for Motorway permitted Traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of the A683 (Sedbergh), A684, M6, and the A65 (Kirkby Lonsdale). Alternative Route for Motorway prohibited south west bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A683 (Sedbergh), A684 (Kendal), Anne Street, Stramongate, New Road, Aynam Road, A65 (Kirkby Lonsdale) and A683 (Marthwaite).

Alternative Route for Motorway prohibited north bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A683 (Kirkby Lonsdale), A65 (Kendal), A6, Lowther Street, New Road, Blackhall Road, Sandes Avenue, Station Road, Wildman Street, Castle Street, and Sedbergh Road.

9. A683 Treasonfield nr Barbon - Approx. duration 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/3577)

From its junction with Stondross Lane extending in a northerly direction for a distance approx. 1.26km.

Alternative Route for Motorway Permitted Traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of the A683 (Sedbergh), A684, M6, and the A65 (Kirkby Lonsdale). Alternative Route for Motorway Prohibited Traffic South bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A683 (Sedbergh), A684 (Kendal), Anne Street, Stramongate, New Road, Aynam Road, A65 (Kirkby Lonsdale) and A683 (Marthwaite).

Alternative Route for Motorway Prohibited Traffic north boud traffic: via the unrestricted sections of A683 (Kirkby Lonsdale), A65 (Kendal), A6, Lowther Street, New Road, Blackhall Road, Sandes Avenue, Station Road, Wildman Street, Castle Street, and Sedbergh Road.

10. C5022 Grizedale - Approx. duration 3 days (Ref: TTRO/3732) From its junction with the C2056, extending in a south westerly direction for approximately 3.5km. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C5022 (Rusland), C5025, C5024 and C5026.

11. U5523 Chapel Stile, Ambleside - Approx. duration 2 days (Reft TTRO/3865) From a point approx. 450m north west of its junction with the B5343 extending predominantly in north westerly direction for approx. 720m. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U5523 and B5343.
