Abbots Road -The Installation Of A Crane In The Highway That Will Facilitate Essential Roof Maintenance Works

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(ABBOTS ROAD, GATESHEAD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead propose to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from Abbots Road from the junction with St Marys Square in an easterly direction for a distance of 102 metres. The Order is required to allow the installation of a crane in the highway that will facilitate essential roof maintenance works at The Sage Gateshead. It is proposed that the Order will come into force on the 12 April 2023. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however the works are expected to be completed on the 13 April 2023. During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above road until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Notice is also given that in accordance with Article 9 Part III of The Borough Council of Gateshead (Off Street Parking Places Gateshead)(Consolidation Amendment No.2) Order 2009, Schedule 2 Part II item 1 - Abbots Road (No.1) Car Park and Item 2 - Abbots Road (No.2) Car Park will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the above prohibition.
