Mill Lane & Station Approach - One-Way Traffic

What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Mill Lane and Station Approach (D5421) Godalming (One-Way Traffic) Order 2023

On 28 February 2023 Surrey County Council in exercise of their powers under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, made the above mentioned Order, which will come into operation on 4 March 2023.

The effect of which is that all vehicles proceeding in (1) Mill Lane (D5421) Godalming from the south-eastern extent of the wall dividing the said road from The Mint to its junction with Station Approach, shall do so only in a northwesterly direction (towards Station Approach); and (2) in Station Approach (D5421) Godalming, shall proceed only in a northerly or north-easterly or easterly direction (towards Station Road).

The said restriction shall not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency; or in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of Surrey Police; or to any road cleansing vehicles being used only between 5.30am and 7.00am on any day of the week.

These documents and a copy of the made Order may also be viewed at (1), Godalming Library, Bridge Street, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1HT, during normal opening hours; and at (2) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment, until 11 April 2023.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with, in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
