What is happening?

The County Of Cumbria (C2043, C2042 And C2053 Anthorn) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out carriageway repair works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. C2043 Anthorn, from its junction with the C2042, extending in a westerly direction for a distance of approx. 4km.

2. C2042 Anthorn, from its junction widi the C2043, to its junction with the C2053.

Alternative route for I and 2 above: via the unrestricted sections of the C2043, U2002 and C2042. Duration for 1 and 2 above: From 20 February 2023 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO/3305).

3. C2053 Anthorn, from its junction widi the C2042, to its junction with the B5307.

Alternative Route: via the B5307, A689, C2042, U2002, and C2043.

Duration: From 23 February 2023 for approx. I week (Ref: TTRO/3308)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by

statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the

direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for

pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads,

or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and

only from the roads; and

(iv) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote are stated above.

The Order will come into operation on 20 February 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
