A303 Trunk Road - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic to Allow Surveys and Associated Maintenance Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A303 TRUNK ROAD (AMESBURY) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A303 trunk road in the County of Wiltshire to allow surveys and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place daytimes (08.00 to 16.30) commencing on or after 7 March 2023 and be completed by 16 March 2023.
The effect of the Order would be:
(a) to impose a mandatory 50 mph speed limit on the A303 westbound from 1500 metres east of Allington Track Junction to 110 metres west of Amesbury Road Junction in Amesbury;
(b) authorise the closure of the westbound exit slip road at Allington Track Junction
(c) authorise the closure of the gaps in the central reservation in the length of the A303 given at (a) above;
(d) authorise the closure of the side road junctions with the length of the A303 given at (a) above.
During the closures, traffic would be diverted via junctions of the A303 and local roads.
The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limits, and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.
The Order would come into force on 5 March 2023 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
