Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A299 THANET WAY & HUFFKINS WAY, HERNHILL
(TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION)
TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow water connection and main works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction on A299 Thanet Way (Service Road) & Huffkins Way, Hernhill on or after 20th February 2023 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restrictions will be imposed on the following roads:
A299 Thanet Way (Service Road), Hernhill from the exit of the Petrol Station for 200 metres westbound, to the extent indicated by signage on site.
Huffkins Way, Hernhill from the entrance to Young Brothers to the junction with A299 Thanet Way, to the extent indicated by signage on site.
ETHELBERT ROAD, CANTERBURY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow tree works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ethelbert Road, Canterbury, on or
after 26th February 2023 for up to 1 day between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 29, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Ethelbert Road, South Canterbury Road, Nunnery Fields, Old Dover Road and vice versa.
GILES LANE, CANTERBURY CT2 7LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow electrical connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Giles Lane, Canterbury, on or after 21st February 2023 for up to 1 day between the
hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Tanglewood, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The environmental weight limit Order on Forty Acres Road, will be temporarily suspended, to allow for diverted traffic.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Giles Lane, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill and vice versa.
MARINE CRESCENT, WHITSTABLE CT5 2QQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marine Crescent, Whitstable, on or after 20th February 2023 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the side of number 36 Princess Road to outside number 11 Marine Crescent, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Princess Road, Priest Walk, B2205 Herne Bay Road, Marine Crescent and vice versa.
NORTHGATE, CANTERBURY CT1 1BG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2023
To allow defect repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury, on or after 6th March 2023 for up to 2 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 46, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for traffic travelling southbound is via Northgate, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephen’s Road, North Lane, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds, Knott’s Lane, King Street, Borough.
The alternative route for traffic travelling northbound is via Borough, Palace Street, Orange Street, King Street, Knott’s Lane, St Radigunds, Pound Lane, The Causeway, North Lane, St Stephen’s Road, Kingsmead Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place, Union Street, Northgate.
PARISH ROAD, CHARTHAM CT4 7JT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow overhead structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Parish Road, Chartham, on or after 26th February 2023 for up to 1 day between the hours of 09:00 and 18:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from outside the Pumping Station for 60 metres east, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road, The Green and vice versa.
RAILWAY HILL, BARHAM (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2023
To allow structure maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Railway Hill,
Barham, on or after 6th March 2023 for up to 9 days between the hours of 08:30 and 17:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with The Causeway and Greenhill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Greenhills, Valley Road, Derringstone Street and vice versa.
SWEECHGATE, BROAD OAK CT3 4FZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechgate, Broad Oak, on or after 20th February 2023 for up to 14 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with A291 Herne Bay Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Broad Oak Road, Shalloak Road, Sweechgate and vice versa
VARIOUS ROADS, HERNE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow development electrical connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads in Herne, on or after 20th February 2023, with estimated completion by 23rd April 2023, or until the works have been completed.

Canterbury Road (Service Road), Herne
Canterbury Road (Service Road), Herne will be closed from 20th February 2023, between the hours of 09:30 and 16:30 only (including weekend working), with estimated completion by 28th February 2023.
The road will be closed from the junction with Mill View Road to outside number 255, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure and access will not be maintained between the hours of 09:30 and 16:30, except for emergencies.
Mill View Road, Herne
Mill View Road, Herne will be closed from 1st March 2023, with estimated completion by 24th March 2023.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Mill Lane and Strode Park Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for this closure is via Mill Lane, School Lane, Herne Street, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Mill Lane, Herne
Mill Lane, Herne will be closed from 25th March 2023, with estimated completion by 21st April 2023.
The road will be closed in 5 phases, on a rolling closure basis, in the extents detailed below.
Phases 1 - 3 - the road will be closed between the junctions with Mill Lane/Mill View Road and Hunters Forstal Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Phases 4 - 5 - the road will be closed between the junctions with Hunters Forstal Road and Thanet Way Off Slip, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for phases 1 - 3 is via Broomfield Road, Hawe Farm Way, Hunters Forstal Road, Phase 4 Hunters Forstal Road and Kingsfield Road.
The alternative route for phases 4 - 5 is via Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way off slip, Canterbury Road and Mill View Road, or in reverse A299 Thanet Way off slip, Canterbury Road, Herne Street and School Lane.
Mickleburgh Hill, Herne
Mickleburgh Hill, Herne will be closed in two phases on 14th April 2023 at 20:00, with estimated completion by 17th April 2023 at 06:00 and on 21st April 2023 at 20:00, with estimated completion by 23rd April 2023 at 16:00.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Mill Lane and Reculver Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for northbound traffic is via Mickleburgh Hill, Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way onslip, A299 Thanet Way and Margate Road.
The alternative route for southbound traffic is via Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, A299 Thanet Way off slip, A291 Canterbury Road and Mickleburgh Hill.
The road crossing at Hunters Forstal Road/Pigeon Lane will be managed under multi-phase signals
