AMENDMENT TO THE SCHEME FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMUNITY COUNCILS IN WEST LOTHIAN - CARMONDEAN AND DEANS COMMUNITY COUNCILS
NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, at a special meeting of West Lothian Council held on 24 January 2023, the council agreed to amend the boundaries set out within its Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils to allow for the creation of two separate community councils for the areas of Carmondean and Deans.Nominations are now being sought from electors seeking election to serve on
• CARMONDEAN COMMUNITY COUNCIL and
• DEANS COMMUNITY COUNCIL
for the period to September/October 2025. Timescales and further details are set out below:-
1. The closing date for acceptance of nominations for election to both community councils is 5pm on Thursday 9 March.
2. The closing date for withdrawal of nominations for both community councils is 5pm on Thursday 16 March.
3. The maximum number of members permitted on both community councils is 12.
4. A minimum of 4 valid nominations must be received in order to set up each community council.
If less than 4 nominations are received for each area, no community council can be established.
If more than 12 nominations are received for each community council, an election may be necessary.
