Prince Avenue and Victoria Avenue, Temporary Road Closure and Speed Restrictions due to Fibre Optic Work.
What is happening?

PRINCE AVENUE (A127) & VICTORIA AVENUE (A127), SOUTHEND ON SEA
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND 40-MPH SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2023 ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)
Notice is hereby given that the Southend-on-Sea City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from
1. Proceeding on Prince Avenue (A127) from its junction with Rochford Road to Cuckoo Corner roundabout, both directions.
2. Speed reduction from 40MPH to 30MPH on (A127) Victoria Avenue from its junction with, and including, Cuckoo Corner Roundabout to its junction with Priory Crescent, both Directions.
3. Speed reduction from 40MPH to 30MPH on (A127) Prince Avenue from its junctions with and including, Cuckoo Corner Roundabout to its junctions with Hobleythick Lane & Rochford Road, both directions.
The restriction is scheduled to commence from only from 21:00 till 0500 each evening from the 9th of February 2023 until the 13th of February 2023 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.
*THE CLOSURE WILL ONLY BE IN PLACE ON THE 12th of FEBRUARY 2023 FOR 3HRS FROM 0030 TILL 0330*
The alternative route will be via Rochford Road, Harp House Roundabout, Manners Way, and vice versa or Hobleythick Lane, Prittlewell Chase, Fairfax Drive & Victoria Avenue and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 9th February 2023 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier The closure & speed restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst fibre optic work takes place. Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure. The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition mposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
