London, Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE VARIOUS GLA ROADS (LONDON BOROUGHS OF CAMDEN, ISLINGTON, HACKNEY AND HARINGEY)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway lining and signage works to take place on the roads listed in Article 3 below in the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Hackney and Haringey.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering, exiting or stopping on the A501 Marylebone Road/ Euston Road/ Pentonville Road/ City Road between its junctions with Old Street and Park Square East;

(2) entering, exiting or stopping on the A41 Finchley Road between its junctions with Boundary Road and Burgess Hill;

(3) entering, exiting or stopping on the A5200 Gray's Inn Road between it junctions with Euston Road and Acton Street;

(4) entering, exiting or stopping on the A503 Camden Road/ Isledon Road/ Parkhurst Road/ Rock Street/ Tollington Road/ Seven Sisters Road between its junctions with Camden High Street and the A10 High Road;

(5) entering, exiting or stopping on the A1 Holloway Road/ Sandridge Street/ St John's Way/ Archway Road between its junctions with Parkhurst Road and Highgate Hill;

(6) entering, exiting or stopping on the A10 Stoke Newington High Street/ Stamford Hill/ Manse Road/ Evering Road/ Rectory Road/ Northwold Road between its junctions with Amhurst Road and Craven Park Road;

The Order will also permit:

(7) all vehicles to use the eastbound and westbound bus lanes on the A501 Marylebone Road/ Euston Road/ Pentonville Road/ City Road between its junctions with Old Street and Park Square East;

(8) all vehicles to use the northbound and southbound bus lanes on the A41 Finchley Road between its junctions with Boundary Road and Burgess Hill;

(9) all vehicles to use the northbound and southbound bus lanes on the A5200 Gray's Inn Road between its junctions with Euston Road and Acton Street;

(10) all vehicles to use the north-eastbound and south-westbound bus lanes on the A503 Camden Road/ Isledon Road/ Parkhurst Road/ Rock Street/ Tollington Road/ Seven Sisters Road between its junctions with Camden High Street and the A10 High Road;

(11) all vehicles to use the northbound and southbound bus lanes on the A1 Holloway Road/ Sandridge Street/ St John's Way/ Archway Road between its junctions with Parkhurst Road and Highgate Hill

(12) all vehicles to use the northbound and southbound bus lanes on the A10 Stoke Newington High Street/ Stamford Hill/ Manse Road/ Evering Road/ Rectory Road/ Northwold Road between its junctions with Amhurst Road and Craven Park Road.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 12:01 AM on 27th February 2023 until 5:00 AM on 1st September 2023 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs.
