Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 STATION ROAD, CHARTHAM (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To ensure pedestrian safety to be maintained whilst a temporary pedestrian crossing is in place, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction on A28 Ashford Road, Canterbury, on or after 17th February 2023 for up to 39 days or until the works have been completed.
The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be imposed will be imposed at the 40mph sign heading Westbound, just before the junction with
Station Road, up to the 50mph sign adjacent to the cemetery car park, to the extent indicated by signage on site, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
B2205 CANTERBURY ROAD & SPENCER ROAD, HERNE
BAY CT6 5RZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY
ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow storm and sewer connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 Canterbury Road and Spenser Road, Herne Bay, on or after 13th February 2023, with estimated completion by 3rd March 2023.
The works will be carried out in two phases, as detailed below.
Phase 1
Phase 1 is programmed for 7 days.
B2205 Canterbury Road will be closed at both its junctions with Spenser Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for southbound traffic on B2205 Canterbury Road is via B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road and A2990 Thanet Way.
The alternative route for northbound traffic on B2205 Canterbury Road is via B2205 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way On slip, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way off slip, Margate Road and Mickleburgh Hill.
The alternative route for eastbound traffic on Spenser Road is via Station Road, B2205 High Street and B2205 Canterbury Road or Station Road, The Circus, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road and A2990 Thanet Way.
The alternative route for westbound traffic on Spenser Road is via Douglas Road and Mickleburgh Hill or Douglas Road Mickleburgh Hill, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange Road, A299 Thanet Way off slip, and B2205 Canterbury Road.
Phase 2
Phase 2 is programmed for 12 days.
Spenser Road (east of B2205 Canterbury Road) will be closed at its junction with B2205 Canterbury Road for a distance of approximately 50 metres in an easterly direction, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Spenser Road, Douglas Road and Mickleburgh Hill and vice versa.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times, when it is safe to do so.
BEACH WALK, WHITSTABLE CT5 2BH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Beach Walk, Whitstable, on or after 13th February 2023 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Tower Parade, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Tower Parade, Beach Walk and vice versa.
BEKESBOURNE LANE, CANTERBURY CT3 4AD
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER
FEBRUARY 2023
To allow vegetation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane,
Canterbury, on or after 28th February 2023 for up to 1 day between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from outside Hoath Farm to outside Palmsted Wood, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne Hill, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, The Hill, Canterbury Road, Littlebourne Road, Bekesbourne Lane and vice versa.
CHURCH STREET, WHITSTABLE CT5 1SD (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow gully cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Street, Whitstable, on or after 13th February 2023 for up to 3 days, or until the works
have been completed.
The road will be closed from outside number 10 to the junction with Ivy House Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Street, A2290 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstall Hill, B2205 Canterbury Road, Belmont Road, Old Bridge Road, The Bridge Approach, Castle Road and vice versa.
ESSEX STREET & SWANFIELD ROAD, WHITSTABLE CT5 4HG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow footway reconstruction and kerbing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Essex Street & Swanfield Road, Whitstable from 6th February 2023, with estimated completion by 14th April 2023.
Essex Street, Whitstable
The restrictions on Essex Street, Whitstable will be in place from 6th February 2023, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 (Monday - Saturday only), with
estimated completion by 10th March 2023.
The road will be closed for its entire length, with the works carried out in phases, as detailed below.
• Phase 1 & 2 - from the junction with Forge Lane to outside BD Motors, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
• Phase 3 & 4 - from outside BD Motors to the junction with Harwich Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
• Phase 5 & 6 - between the junctions with Swanfield Road and Harwich Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for phases 1 to 4 is via Forge Lane, B2205 Canterbury Road and Harwich Street.
The alternative route for phases 5 to 6 is via Swanfield Road, B2205 Cantebury Road and Harwich Street.
A temporary mandatory 20 mph speed restriction will be imposed between the junctions with Forge Lane and Harwich Street, to the extent indicated by signage on site.
A temporary no-waiting restriction will be imposed on Essex Street for its entire length, to allow for traffic.
Swanfield Road, Whitstable
The restrictions on Swanfield Road, Whitstable will be in place from 6th March 2023, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 (Monday to Saturday only), with estimated completion by 14th April 2023.
The road will be closed in phases for its entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Each Phase will be in maximum lengths of 70 metres, with traffic management operatives located at either end of the closure, to assist residents to exit Swanfield Road (if required), due to the narrow carriageway.
The alternative route is via Harwich Street, B2205 Canterbury Road, Swanfield Road and vice versa.
A temporary mandatory 20 mph speed restriction will be imposed between the junctions with Harwich Street and Belmont Road, to the extent indicated by signage on site.
A temporary no-waiting restriction will be imposed on
Swanfield Road for its entire length, to allow for traffic.
FAULKNERS LANE, HARBLEDOWN (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Faulkners Lane, Harbledown, on or after 13th February 2023 for up to 7 days or until
the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from The Burrow to the bridge over the A2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A2050 Rheims Way, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Hatch Lane, Town Lane, Bigbury Road, Faulkners Lane and vice versa.
The alternative route for any through traffic over 3.6 meters tall is via Faulkners Lane, Pilgrims Lane, Bigbury Road, Town Lane, Hatch Lane, A28 Ashford Road, A28 Thanington Road, A28 Wincheap, A28 Wincheap Green,
A290 Rheims Way, A290 St Peters Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, A2050 London Road Roundabout, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, Chartham Hatch Road and viceversa.
The alternative route for all other through traffic is via Faulkners Lane, Chartham Hatch Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, A2050 London Road Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, A290 St Peters Roundabout, A290
Rheims Way, A28 Wincheap Green, A28 Wincheap, A28 Thanington Road, A28 Ashford Road, Howfield Lane, Bigbury Road, Pilgrims Lane and vice versa.
HAM SHADES LANE, WHITSTABLE CT5 2JJ
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2023
To allow vegetation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ham Shades Lane, Whitstable, on or after 1st March 2023 for up to 1 day between the
hours of 09:00 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of rail bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Ham Shades Lane, Church Street, Castle Road, Queens Road and vice versa.
KINGS ROAD, HERNE BAY CT6 5NX (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kings Road, Herne Bay, on or after 14th February 2023 for up to 2 days or until the works have
been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 56a, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Kings Road, Richmond Street, High Street, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
KINGS ROAD, HERNE BAY CT6 5NX (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kings Road, Herne Bay, on or after 28th February 2023 for up to 1 night between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 56a, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Kings Road, Richmond Street, High Street, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
NORTHGATE, CANTERBURY CT1 1BG (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2023
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury, on or after 1st March 2023 for up to 1 night between the
hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 60, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place
and Union Street.
The alternative route for westbound traffic is via Northgate, Kingsmead Road, St Stephen’s Road, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knotts
Lane, King Street and Borough.
PALACE STREET, CANTERBURY CT1 2RA (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Palace Street, Canterbury, on or after 14th February 2023 for up to 1 night between the
hours of 19:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from outside number 1 to number 6, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling southbound is via Palace Street, Borough, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street and onto Orange Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling northbound is via Orange Street and onto King Street.
ST NICHOLAS ROAD, THANINGTON WITHOUT CT1 3UH
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2023
To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic travelling southbound on St Nicholas Road, Thanington Without, on or after 27th February 2023 for up to 12 days or until the works have been completed.
St Nicholas Road will be closed (southbound only) at the junction with A28 Thanington Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The A28 Thanington Road will be minimised by 1 metre to accomodate a temporary pedestrian footway.
The alternative route is via A28 Thanington Road, Strangers Lane, Cockering Road and St Nicholas Road.
SWEECHBRIDGE ROAD, HERNE BAY CT6 6TG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow water connection and main works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, on or after 11th February 2023 for up
to 9 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of the new development (south of Hillborough Business Park), to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Northbound traffic is via Sweechbridge Road, Heart In Hand Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange,
Mickleburgh Hill and Reculver Road.
The alternative route for Southbound traffic is via Reculver Road, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way, Heart In Hand Road, May Street and Sweechbridge Road.
VIRGINIA ROAD, WHITSTABLE CT5 3DR (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2023
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Virginia Road, Whitstable, on or after 13th February 2023 for up to 9 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the general vicinity of number 3, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via South Street, Millstrood Road, Thanet Way, Clover Rise, Grasmere Road, Virginia Road and vice versa.
