What is happening?
Oxfordshire County Council
(Mixbury, Finmere, & Newton Purcell With Shellswell Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2023
NOTICE is given that on 30 January 2023 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order, which comes not force on 6 February is as follows:1) introducing a 20mph speed limit within Finmere replacing the existing 30mph limit in all roads leading out to the following points:
a) Fulwell Road - a point 250 metres west of its junction with Stable Close,
b) Mere Road - a point 23 metres northwest of its junction with the unnamed road running north-eastwards to Tingewick,
c) Water Stratford Road - a point 250 metres north of its junction with Fulwell Road,
d) The unnamed road running north-eastwards to Tingewick - a point 34 metres southwest of its junction with Mere Road,
e) Valley Road - to its junction with Banbury Road.
The existing 30mph speed limit on Banbury Road will remain as currently signed, having taken into account the current road environment & traffic usage.
2) As a result of the continued High-Speed Rail 2 (HS2) development works - a 50mph speed limit is introduced on the A421 in the parishes of Mixbury & Finmere replacing the existing 60mph National speed limit between a point 445 metres east of its junction with Bicester Hill in the parish of Mixbury and a point 165 metres west of the A421/A4421 Finmere roundabout.
The order also brings in the parishes of Newton Purcell with Shellswell with an administrative amendment to update the references of the 'A421' to read 'A4421' to comply with national reclassification in road numbering. No changes are made to that assigned 40mph speed limit. The Oxfordshire County Council (Mixbury Parish) (Speed Limit) Order 2022, the Oxfordshire County Council (Finmere Parish) (Speed Limit) Order 2004 and the Oxfordshire County Council Newton Purcell with Shellswell Parishes) (Speed Limit) Order 2003 are revoked/replaced. (Piddington Parish) (20mph Speed Limit) Order 2023
NOTICE is given that on 30 January 2023 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order, which comes not force on 6 February is to introduce a 20mph speed limit within Piddington, replacing the existing 30mph speed limit in the village on all roads leading out to the following points:1. Arncott Road - a point 137 metres west of Lower End,
2. Lower End - a point 635 metres north of Arncott Road,
3. Ludgershall Road - a point 185 metres northeast of Thame Road,
4. Thame Road - a point 275 metres southwest of Vicarage Lane.

(North Aston Parish) (Speed Limits) Order 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order - in support of road safety issues is to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout North Aston - replacing the existing 30mph speed limit in its entirety - leading outwards to the following points:1. Somerton Road:
a. Eastern end - a point 540 metres northeast of Middle Aston Road,
b. Western end - a point 38 metres southwest of Middle Aston Road
2. Middle Aston Road - a point 70 metres southwest of Somerton Road.
Additionally, a new 50mph speed limit is proposed on the A4260 Oxford Road between the existing 30mph speed limit at Deddington and a point 375 metres south of the junction with Somerton Road (North Aston) replacing the same amount of 60mph National speed limit in the process.
The Oxfordshire County Council (North Aston Parish) (Speed Limits) Order 2003 will therefore be revoked/ replaced as necessary

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by 03 March 2023.
