(CLOSURE OF SECTION OF THOMAS STREET, RYHOPE)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2022

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicular traffic along a section of Thomas Street, Ryhope, from its junction with Burdon Lane, to the extended party property boundary of nos. 2 and 3. The Order is required to enable works to excavate and locate gas mains in or near the carriageway. The Order will come into operation on 3rd January 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under this Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that the works will take 17 days to complete from commencement of the works. All vehicular traffic will be prohibited from the above roads (except for vehicles involved in the works and emergency service vehicles attending an emergency call), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. A road plate will be on site for access during any potential emergency situations where access is required.
