TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2022

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting and loading and unloading between Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-1pm (inclusive), along the sections of road described in the Schedule below. The Order is required to enable safe and clear access for heavy goods vehicles and machinery, whilst maintaining public safety for road users because there is a likelihood of danger to the public. The Order will come into operation on 30th November 2022. The maximum duration of the restrictions under this Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that the restrictions may only be in place for 7 months. All vehicular traffic will be prohibited from waiting and loading and unloading during Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-1pm (inclusive), along the roads in the Schedule below (except for emergency services vehicles on emergency call), at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs and or associated road markings.

SCHEDULE
1.Prospect Row –The south, eastern and northern side, from the extended north-eastern property boundary of no.20 Mariner Square to the extended north-eastern building line of the public house known as The Welcome Tavern.
2.Prospect Row – The north side, from the extended south-western building line of the public house known as The Welcome Tavern, to its junction with Barrack Street.
3.Barrack Street – The eastern side, from the extended south-eastern property boundary of no.22 Mariner Square to its south-eastern extent.
